Role playing (more commonly referred to as RPing) is a form of playing/writing. Remember the days when you would play Warriors with your friends? Swat at the air, hiss, and talk like a warrior? Well that's basically what you do, except you write what you're doing and saying. It may seem tricky at first, but with just a bit of time, you'll get the hang of it. It's pretty simple! The more you RP, the better you become, and if you like writing, this can even help you get more practice with that!
Talking
Your character can't just be silent! So don't be afraid to say anything your warrior wants to say! Remember that anything your cat says, YOU aren't saying, so if you call someone a mouse brain, we all know that it's just for the game. To make your character "talk", just write what you want it to say. It's that simple!
----------
Example: "Greetings, Fireheart. Did you catch any decent squirrels lately?"
Action
To do an action, you must do this
----------
Frostheart ran into the clearing letting out a yowl.
Out of Character (OOC)
Anything you say in the boards (besides the general boards and other OOC boards and private massages [PM's]) is what your character is saying. Anything you type is what your caracter is doing. So you want to say something in the RPing boards that you're actually saying? You, as in NOT your character. Then say it in parenthesizes or brackets.
----------
Example: (Lol, Fireheart! Brb, I'm going to get a cookie! xD)
So that's pretty simple, right? Those are all of the three components of basic RPing. Put it all together, and a single post could look a little something like this...
----------
Example: "Fireheart, you mouse-brained piece of crow food! How could you!?" Frostheart spat, lashing her tail furiously
(Lol, Fireheart, you know I don't mean anything.)
Not all posts have to have all three components; some posts may only have one thing! (Meaning, one post mat just have action-no talking or OOC talking.) Feel free to get creative with your style of RPing, and have fun with it!
----------
You can find more ways to hunt and battle in 'Battle Basics' and 'How to Hunt'. Remember that everyone RP's differently, and that's fine! This is just a simple guide for those who have never RPed before
